Winter is finally upon us and during this time of the year most people complain about gaining unwanted weight, myself included! It is so easy to fall into couch potato habits which includes binging on foods with a high caloric intake. On top of that there are so many flu and stomach bugs going around which is why I am increasing my raw food intake and what better way to do it than with delicious smoothies? I'm going to be sharing my Winter Smoothie recipes with you including the benefits of each ingredient. The best thing about smoothies for me is that you know exactly what you are putting into your body and it also gives you an opportunity to get creative with your blender.
5x Spinach Leaves
1 Green Apple
2 tbs Honey
2 tbs Aloe Vera Juice
Spinach is high in nutritional value and rich in antioxidants (a substance such as vitamin C or E that removes potentially damaging oxidizing agents in a living organism)
Green apples are high in fibre content which increases metabolism and helps to clean the digestive system.
Honey is an antibacterial and can reduce throat and cough irritation (food really is medicine!)
Aloe Vera Juice is beneficial for hydration, relieving constipation and is a good source of calcium and magnesium.
